Murals of El Porvenir
Murals I’ve painted at Colegio El Porvenir in Mexico (aka my second home).
In 2023, I took a leave of absence from USC to live
in
a small agricultural town in Mexico for 8 months.

I was an English and Art teacher at a school called ‘El Porvenir’
which translates to ‘The Future’
Built with the purpose of sharing the love of Christ and ending cycles of
poverty and exploitive labor, the school helps low-income students
reach higher education.
It was here for the first time I truly recognized design
as a powerful, tangible tool to impact lives.
I was commissioned by the school director to create a stairway mural
that led to their newly constructed computer lab.
For many students, it was their first time ever touching a computer.
I interviewed and illustrated students’ dream careers so that
as they walk up to computer class to learn, they would be motivated
to pursue after their God-given dreams.
Now I visit when I can and paint more murals around the community
like their newly constructed highschool building.
My friends, Julia and Juanito (El Porvenir highschool students) who assisted me in painting :-)
